Award-winning singer Gugulethu Khumalo, aka Berita, and her former husband, controversial pop culture commentator and podcaster Nhlamulo “Nota” Baloyi, have officially divorced two years after announcing their separation.
Nota Baloyi shared the news of their divorce on his social media platforms. On Instagram, he posted, “Marital status: DIVORCED!” and on Twitter, he shared lessons learned from his experience with his followers.
“The lesson is to make sure she leaves with nothing of yours & loses half of everything she gained… Another lesson is marry in your class. Bringing someone up out of poverty is like going to bed with a snake that is starving itself to build up the appetite to swallow you whole,” Baloyi tweeted.
Berita and Nota’s split was marked by public controversy. After Berita left their home, Baloyi continued to discuss their relationship online, often referring to her as his wife. In previous posts, he accused Berita of taking his gown and appealed to the South African police service to help him retrieve it. He also demanded that she return a Michael Kors bag he had purchased for her and reimburse him for damages to a car she allegedly caused.
The separation between Berita and Nota garnered significant attention due to the public nature of their disputes and Baloyi’s outspoken commentary on social media.
