Get ready to groove this summer because Demi Lovato has teamed up with OGX to make sure you look and feel your absolute best. The singer-songwriter has partnered with the hair care brand to create a confidence-boosting anthem that’s sure to get you on your feet. Titled “OG Anthem,” the song is a vibrant nod to OGX’s signature packaging and beloved hair care formulas.
“This partnership is something that feels authentic to me because there’s a nostalgic element. Everyone knows the iconic bottle,” says Lovato, who uses she/they pronouns, in an exclusive with PEOPLE. “I’m very familiar with this brand. I used it growing up and I use it now.”
Lovato is genuinely excited about this project. “This project was just really fun for me. I loved working on the song and I loved getting to make this new anthem for the brand,” they shared.
With Lovato’s powerful vocals and an infectious beat, “OG Anthem” is all about embracing and celebrating yourself. “I just wanted to keep it light and fun for the audience,” Lovato says. The catchy opening lines go, “Switch it up, now you’re looking lavish. OGX, do it like it’s magic. Volume up, yeah you’re looking lavish. OGX, that’s why you’re the baddest. Lookin’ like a work of art, feelin’ like a superstar.”
When it comes to keeping her hair looking fabulous, Lovato swears by OGX products, particularly the Nourishing + Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner. “They just leave my hair so soft and healthy and it smells really good,” she reveals.
These favourite products, along with the Thick & Full + Biotin & Collagen Shampoo and Conditioner and Renewing + Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo and Conditioner, have been upgraded with the brand’s Lipi Pro Shield Technology. This innovation delivers double the amount of lipids and proteins to seal and protect hair, and they’re available at amazon.com and drugstores nationwide.
Lovato, who has sported a chic short brunette bob recently (though she’s trying out honey blonde highlights for the summer), is known for her bold hair transformations. From pixie cuts to bleach blonde, Lovato’s hairstyles reflect her ever-evolving persona.
“Sometimes it’s a spiritual relief by cutting my hair, or sometimes I feel experimental and I want to change my hair colour,” explains the “Sorry Not Sorry” singer. “I’m a pretty multidimensional person, so my hair is just an extension of who I am at any given moment.”
Engaged to songwriter Jordan ‘Jutes’ Lutes since December 2023, Lovato is still mulling over her wedding hairstyle. “There’s definitely inspiration on Pinterest for it that I have made,” she says. “I’m not locked into anything as of yet because I still have quite some time.”
