Young South African talent is making waves on the global stage as Tyla, Kairo Forbes, and the musical trio Biko’s Manna secure nominations for the 2024 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. The annual slime-filled extravaganza, known for celebrating the best in film, television, music, sports, and more, has unveiled its list of nominees, including over 50 first-time contenders.
Tyla, a Grammy and BET award-winning artist, has been nominated for the Favourite Global Music Star category. Her nomination highlights her impressive musical achievements and growing international acclaim.
Kairo Forbes, the rising star and influencer, has also bagged a nomination in the Favourite African Kidfluencer category. Kairo, daughter of the late Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and DJ Zinhle, has been making a name for herself in the digital space. The 8-year-old previously won the Social Media Kid Influencer of the Year award at the South African Social Media Awards in 2023.
Joining Kairo in the Favourite African Kidfluencer category are the social media sensations Biko’s Manna. This dynamic musical trio, consisting of siblings Biko (17), Manna (14), and Mfundo (9), has captured global attention with their performances on America’s Got Talent and their appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show in 2023.

This year’s awards will be hosted by beloved characters SpongeBob SquarePants (voiced by Tom Kenny) and Patrick Star (voiced by Bill Fagerbakke). The event will premiere from their undersea home of Bikini Bottom on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 3 PM on NickToons channel 305 on DSTV.
