South African Football Squad, Bafana Bafana, will host Congo-Brazzaville at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Friday, before travelling to Brazzaville to face the Red Devils again four days later. A clean haul of six points out of six will see Bafana automatically qualify for the AFCON finals in Morocco
Team coach, Hugo Broos has called on the team to reveal the ‘real’ Bafana Bafana when they run out to face a tough opponent on Friday in the 2025 Group K Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The South African squad had a successful away game against South Sudan, in their previous Afcon match last month, winning the encounter 2-3, but will need to show a steady performance to secure the important finals position and ensure a decent draw.
Bafana Bafana are in second place in Group K, and importantly have scored a total of five goals in two matches played so far, although two match winners were only scored in added time. The squad will definitely need to improve on their defence against Congo, with 4 goals scored against them in two games.
Congo, in comparison have not been prolific goal scorers but have been tight on defence and this will be the challenge facing Bafana in the next two matches.
“I want six points and I want to see the real South Africa,” said Broos.
“We didn’t see that in the last two games, I was not happy with the performances … we were lucky twice.”
