Veteran actor Sello Maake kaNcube and his wife, publicist and businesswoman Pearl Mbewe, once known for their picture-perfect love story, are now entangled in a public and increasingly dramatic breakup.
Even though before they denied any rumours of trouble, it seems the couple’s marriage has reached its breaking point, with new developments fuelling social media buzz.
Over the weekend, reports surfaced that Maake kaNcube had taken legal action by serving Mbewe with a protection order. The news of this Mzansi power couple’s breakup has left fans and followers shocked, as their relationship had often been highlighted in heartfelt posts online.
In a twist, Maake kaNcube didn’t just serve his estranged wife, he also handed a protection order to Lebo Keswa, the ex-wife of “Generations” star Letoya Makhene. According to Maake kaNcube, Keswa dismissed the order, reportedly telling him, “I’ll show you a ghost,” and refusing to sign it.
Mbewe, in her response, stated she refused to sign because she didn’t fully understand the implications. She also took to social media to deny accusations of infidelity, particularly rumours linking her with Keswa. “I have more gay friends than anything, and I was accused of sleeping with my gay worker, and now this!” Mbewe wrote, clearing the air on the allegations.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2021, have reportedly been living apart since July last year, and Maake kaNcube is ready to move on. In a candid moment, he opened up about the reality behind their public image, saying, “My wife has been the problem. Social media was managed by her. Everything you saw online, every caption, was her doing. I was presented as happily married, but in truth, I lived in hell.”
Adding another layer to this saga, Mbewe has been collaborating with Keswa on her new podcast, “My Journey,” available on YouTube. Keswa had a blunt response to the protection order on social media, posting a clear “Fotsek” directed at Maake kaNcube.
