Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are officially taking the next big step in their relationship — they’re engaged!
The singer-actress, 32, and the music producer, 36, shared their joyous news on Wednesday, Dec. 11, delighting fans worldwide.
Gomez made the announcement via an Instagram carousel that featured a close-up of her dazzling engagement ring and a heart-warming photo of the couple celebrating with laughter and a hug. She captioned the post, “forever begins now..,” setting hearts aflutter.
Blanco’s playful comment on the post, “hey wait… that’s my wife,” added a touch of humour to the romantic moment.
The bride-to-be didn’t stop there. She later posted a mirror selfie to her Instagram Stories, giving fans an even closer look at her sparkling new accessory.
Their love story has been years in the making. Gomez and Blanco first worked together on the 2019 hit “I Can’t Get Enough,” a collaboration with Tainy and J Balvin. However, their romantic journey began in June 2023. By December of that year, Gomez publicly confirmed their relationship by liking fan posts on Instagram and even commenting, “He is my absolute everything in my heart.”
The couple made their red carpet debut at the 2024 Emmys in January, turning heads and solidifying their status as a power duo. Gomez later opened up about their relationship during an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.
“Without getting into too much detail, I think it’s just really important to meet someone that respects you,” she shared. “It’s been really lovely, and I’ve only grown through it, so it’s awesome.”
Blanco had previously hinted at his readiness to settle down. During a May appearance on The Howard Stern Show, he gushed about Gomez, saying, “When I look at her … I’m always just like, I don’t know a world where it could be better than this.”
Gomez, too, had reflected on her life before meeting Blanco. In a May interview with TIME, she revealed that she’d been content with the idea of being alone and had even considered adopting a child in the future. “I was alone for five years and I got really used to it,” she said. “Then I kind of accepted it.”
But fate had other plans, bringing Gomez and Blanco together in a partnership that has blossomed both personally and professionally. In August 2023, Gomez released “Single Soon,” a track produced by Blanco, further intertwining their love story with their creative endeavours.
