Connie Ferguson sets the record straight on TikTok scam

Much-loved actress, filmmaker, and businesswoman Connie Ferguson has taken to her social media to warn her followers about a scam circulating on TikTok.

Fraudsters have been impersonating her in an attempt to promote fake online trading schemes.

In a direct message to her followers, Ferguson made it clear that she does not engage in online trading, stating, “I DO NOT DO ONLINE TRADING and I would never ask anyone for money!”

She further explained the sophisticated tactics used by scammers, revealing that these criminals are leveraging artificial intelligence to video call people, using her likeness and voice to trick unsuspecting victims into parting with their hard-earned money.

Connie also emphasised that she does not partake in cryptocurrency or any form of trading.

Her warning comes amidst a growing wave of scams where scammers employ AI technology to clone the identities of celebrities and public figures to manipulate individuals into trusting them.

In this particular case, the fraudster created a convincing fake TikTok profile to pose as Ferguson, attempting to lure her followers into fraudulent trading schemes.

Many of her followers took to the comments section of her post to confirm that they had received similar messages from scammers impersonating her.

    Followers shared their experience, saying:

I also got a direct message on tick-tock from “Connie Ferguson “😢 their approach was very smooth, almost sounded real but I didn’t buy to it because I know, you and I don’t know each other personally. So I ignored.

There are so many profiles under your name sending friend requests, with a low following…..people must identify the red flags and be vigilant for real. Respect for doing a live so people get it from you. 🙏🏾❤

Yes!!! Sisi few years ago I was called by the person. The do video call a person & I think they put a video of you on the screen then do video call like its you. But you say nothing on the video. I think they make it for people to believe that its really you. When you look carefully during video call you can see that your video is on is screen
