In the ever-glamorous world of celebrity, where the camera never blinks and social media magnifies every wrinkle, staying youthful has become more than a preference—it’s practically a job requirement. And when it comes to keeping things tight, snatched, and sculpted, facelifts have become the go-to fix for many stars.
Of course, chasing eternal youth doesn’t come cheap. But for those who live in the limelight, a fresh face is often worth the investment.
Here in Mzansi, stars like Khanyi Mbau and The Real Housewives of Durban cast member Jojo Robinson have boldly embraced the scalpel, redefining the idea of “ageing gracefully.” Robinson, in particular, has taken her followers along for the ride, offering an unfiltered, tell-all look at the realities of cosmetic surgery.
While many celebrities prefer to keep their surgical secrets under wraps, Jojo Robinson is rewriting the narrative—one raw and real video at a time. The reality star recently took to social media to document every stage of her facelift journey, from day one post-op to six weeks later, and let’s just say, she did not sugarcoat a thing.
“I wanted to share everything from start to finish,” Robinson wrote. “This video shows the reasons I wanted the facelift to the actual surgery itself. I shared videos that are really ugly. Lol. Let’s not judge. But I wanted you guys to see it as it really was.”
Going under the knife is one thing—waking up to the aftermath is another. Robinson didn’t hold back on the harsh reality of post-surgery recovery, admitting that the first few days had her questioning everything.
“The first week, I got depressed because I thought I had made a massive mistake doing the surgery. I looked like an absolute MONSTER (some footage I never showed you guys),” she revealed.
She also shed light on a side of cosmetic surgery that often goes unnoticed—the mental and emotional toll. “No one shares everything, so as women, we go into these surgeries blind and unaware that a lot of this process is normal. We really have to just trust that our bodies will heal and it will normalise.”
Her advice for anyone considering a facelift? “Trust me, it’s very hard. You really do question what you have done that first week. I suggest not looking at the mirror.”
While Robinson assured her fans that the physical pain wasn’t the worst part, she emphasized that the psychological aspect of recovery was the real challenge.
“This isn’t the most painful surgery, but it’s by far the hardest psychologically. Recovery is difficult and uncomfortable. But it’s ALL WORTH IT IN THE END.”
In an interview with Carol Ofori on The Carol Ofori Podcast, Robinson revealed that her facelift is just one of over 20 cosmetic procedures she’s undergone. Six or seven of those have been major surgeries, including multiple breast augmentations, an arm lift, a tummy tuck, and liposuction.
For her latest transformation, she opted for a deep plane face and neck lift—one of the most advanced facelift techniques designed for long-lasting, natural-looking results.
Robinson’s openness about her surgical enhancements adds to a growing conversation about beauty standards, self-image, and the pressures of staying youthful in the public eye. While some applaud her transparency, others raise concerns about the message it sends to women about ageing and self-acceptance.
