Megan Thee Stallion Granted Five-Year Restraining Order Against Tory Lanez

The American Rapper, Megan Thee Stallion has been granted a five-year restraining order against Tory Lanez, adding yet another chapter to their highly publicized legal drama. The ruling, delivered on Thursday, came after Megan’s emotional testimony revealed the profound toll the 2020 Hollywood Hills shooting has taken on her life.

Appearing via video, the Houston rapper spoke candidly about her struggles since the incident. “I want my restraining order because I haven’t been at peace since I [was] shot,” Megan said, her voice heavy with emotion. She described living in a constant state of anxiety, barely leaving her home and often feeling overwhelmed by harassment. At her shows, taunts of “Free Tory” only add to her distress. “I’m just a nervous wreck all the time,” she admitted.

Megan’s attorney, Mari Henderson, made a compelling case for her client’s need for protection. Citing Megan as a victim of a violent crime, Henderson argued that the rapper deserved a sense of security and peace. The judge agreed, highlighting “several uncontroverted facts,” including Lanez’s role in the shooting, as justification for granting the restraining order.

On the other side, Lanez’s attorney, Michael Hayden, pushed back, claiming the order would unfairly restrict his client’s free speech. Hayden assured the court that Lanez had no intention of contacting Megan, declaring, “He has no desire to communicate with the petitioner ever again.”

The restraining order, set to last until January 9, 2030, adds another layer to Lanez’s ongoing legal woes. Following his 2022 conviction for the shooting, Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison in August 2023. He will remain ineligible for parole until September 2029.

The case has not only been a personal battle for Megan but also a public one, with waves of misinformation complicating her fight for justice. In October, false claims began circulating on social media, suggesting Lanez had been declared “innocent.” Megan’s legal team, led by Alex Spiro, swiftly addressed these rumours, with Spiro confirming Lanez’s conviction remains intact.

“Misinformation isn’t gonna be an issue in the court of law where he was convicted and remains convicted and incarcerated,” Spiro told Complex. Taking action against those spreading harmful falsehoods, Megan’s team pursued legal recourse against bloggers accused of cyberbullying and harassment.
