South African football star Percy Tau has officially moved on from Al Ahly, joining Qatar SC to begin a new chapter in his career. Taking to Instagram, Tau expressed gratitude to the Al Ahly family for their unwavering support during his time with the club.

“From day one, my goal was to make history, and together we did just that,” Tau wrote. “You’ve been my home, my family, and my inspiration. The memories we created will stay with me forever.”
Tau’s stint at Al Ahly was nothing short of remarkable. In 126 appearances, he scored 30 goals and delivered 14 assists, helping the club secure two CAF Champions League titles, two Egyptian Premier League trophies, and four Egyptian Super Cups. His dynamic performances cemented his status as a fan favorite.
Despite this, it wasn’t always smooth sailing for the “Lion of Judah.” Tau faced injuries and struggled for game time under new coach Marcel Koller. But he consistently fought and rose to the occasion, reminding everyone of his talent and resilience.
Consequently, after months of speculation, Tau’s move to Qatar SC was confirmed. The Qatari club reportedly paid $450,000 (around R8 million) for Tau, who had six months left on his Al Ahly contract. Additionally, the deal includes an initial six-month period with an option to extend based on his performance.
Tau expressed excitement about the move, saying, “I’m thrilled to start this next chapter with Qatar SC!”
Equally, fans from both Al Ahly and Qatar SC are eager to see the impact he’ll have in the Qatar Stars League.
In his farewell, Tau reassured Al Ahly supporters that this wasn’t goodbye forever. “I’ll always carry your love and support with me,” he said.
In summary, as Tau embarks on this fresh journey, he leaves behind a legacy of brilliance and resilience. While Al Ahly fans will miss their Lion of Judah, they’ll continue cheering him on from afar.
Here’s to new beginnings, Percy Tau – the journey continues!
