Khloé Kardashian has never shied away from putting her life on display, and the latest season of The Kardashians is no exception. In a deeply emotional episode, the reality star revisited one of the most painful chapters of her past: her crazy relationship with ex-husband Lamar Odom.
It was the kind of love story that seemed almost scripted for Hollywood—except it was very real. Khloé and Lamar met at a party in 2009, and just one month later, they walked down the aisle. Their whirlwind romance played out on reality TV, with fans swooning over their undeniable chemistry. But behind the scenes, cracks began to show, leading to their split in 2013.
Their divorce was put on hold when Lamar suffered a near-fatal overdose in October 2015. Out of deep care and concern, Khloé stepped in to nurse him back to health, only for their union to officially end in 2016.
Fast forward nearly a decade, and Khloé found herself face-to-face with Lamar once again. As cameras rolled for The Kardashians season six premiere, she arranged a long-overdue meeting with her ex at her best friend Malika Haqq’s home. The goal? Closure.
“I needed to return some of his belongings and, honestly, just close that chapter,” she shared. But the emotions were heavier than expected.
Khloé opened up about the painful process of detaching from someone she once considered the love of her life.
“I have dealt with so much trauma in this relationship for years, and this was such the love of my life,” she reflected. “To learn how to unlove someone—to have to go through all that—it’s almost like a death.”
But the hardest part wasn’t just moving on—it was breaking contact. After spending months caring for Lamar during his recovery, she was devastated to find him slipping back into destructive habits.
“I was very upset. I told him, ‘I’m going to Vegas. You need to be out by Monday. That’s it, I’m done,'” she recalled of the moment she made the difficult decision to cut ties.
When the time finally came to see each other again, Lamar appeared “nervous” and “scared,” but he still had his signature charm. At one point during their conversation, he quipped, “My wife is the s**t.”
