Killer Mike is making noise—this time in the courtroom.
The rapper has filed a lawsuit against two security companies, S&S Labor Force Inc. and JRM Private Security, over his arrest at the 2024 Grammys.
According to a TMZ report, the “Run the Jewels” star claims his detainment was both unnecessary and unlawful.
The incident went down at the Peacock Arena, where Mike was reportedly denied re-entry. Things escalated quickly when he was allegedly pushed by a security guard, sparking a confrontation that led to Killer Mike being handcuffed and escorted out by LAPD officers. Footage of the altercation quickly surfaced, showing the rapper being detained in front of the crowd at Crypto Arena.
Now, Killer Mike is suing for physical damages, emotional distress, and reputational harm, arguing that he had all the proper credentials to be allowed back in.
His lawsuit claims that the security companies gave their employees too much power, allowing them to make citizen’s arrests without clear cause.
It’s a strange turn of events, especially considering Killer Mike was riding high just moments before the altercation.
At the Grammy premiere ceremony, he snagged not one, but three prestigious awards: Best Rap Album for Michael, and both Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “Scientists and Engineers,” featuring Andre 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane.
From celebrating on stage to fighting for justice off it, Killer Mike is clearly used to speaking truth to power.
