South African media darling Lerato Kganyago has once again shown why she remains one of the country’s most relatable stars. The award-winning radio and television personality recently took to social media to share her experience with breast reduction surgery, a decision she made to alleviate chronic back and neck pain.
Known for her authenticity, Kganyago revealed that the procedure wasn’t about aesthetics but rather about health and comfort.
“My reduction procedure was seamless and less painful than expected,” she shared. “It lasted about two hours, focusing on reducing breast size without adding implants, as the goal was to decrease weight rather than increase it.”
Following the surgery, Kganyago described her recovery process in detail, explaining that while she initially had two surgical drains to manage fluid build-up, the discomfort eased considerably once they were removed by the third day.
“Upon waking, I felt mild discomfort rather than pain… The nursing staff and Dr. Paul Pienaar’s team were exemplary. Although I still have dressings, I find the procedure straightforward and quick to heal with proper precautions,” she noted.
As someone who has been in the public eye for years, Kganyago’s openness about her surgery has resonated with many. Breast reduction surgery is a topic often discussed in hushed tones, yet it has provided relief to countless women, including international celebrities such as Ariel Winter and Queen Latifah, who have also spoken openly about their experiences.
Kganyago, whose career spans radio, television, and business, has built a reputation for being unafraid to tackle real-life issues. Whether she’s commanding the airwaves on Metro FM or dazzling at high-profile events, her influence extends far beyond entertainment.
As she continues her recovery journey, she has assured fans that she will keep them updated on her progress.
