Megan Thee Stallion & Psy Team Up for New Apple TV+ Show, KPopped

Apple TV+ is taking the global music scene by storm with its latest competition series, KPopped, bringing together none other than Grammy-winning rap sensation Megan Thee Stallion and K-pop legend Psy of Gangnam Style fame.

Announced on Wednesday, this eight-episode extravaganza promises a genre-blending, culture-fusing spectacle that fans won’t want to miss.

Executive producing KPopped is a powerhouse team led by music icon Lionel Richie, alongside Megan Thee Stallion, Moira Ross, Greg Foster, Miky Lee, Harry H.K. Shin, and Jake Hong. The project is produced by CJ ENM’s Ki-woong Kim and Eureka Productions, adding an extra layer of expertise to the high-energy series. While Apple TV+ has yet to reveal an official release date, anticipation is already soaring.

According to Apple TV+, KPopped will challenge Western music stars to reinvent their biggest hits with a K-pop twist, collaborating with top-tier idols from the South Korean music industry. Each episode will feature epic battles, with a live audience in Seoul ultimately deciding which collaboration reigns supreme. And if that’s not exciting enough, Megan is set to take the stage herself, performing her chart-topping hit Savage.

This isn’t Apple TV+’s first foray into the world of K-pop. Last year, the streaming platform released K-Pop Idols, a docuseries that gave viewers an intimate look at the lives of artists like Blackswan, Cravity, and Jessi. With KPopped, Apple TV+ is doubling down on its commitment to bringing K-pop closer to global audiences.

Lionel Richie, who has been a judge on ABC’s American Idol since 2018, brings years of reality TV experience to the table. “I feel I can bring a great deal of experience to the table,” he remarked when his involvement was confirmed.

Megan, too, is no stranger to competition-based reality shows. Just last year, she teased Playground, her Hulu dance competition series that launched in July. Executive produced by Megan herself, the show was set at Playground LA, a dance hub founded by Pussycat Dolls creator Robin Antin and choreographer Kenny Wormald.
