Shudufhadzo Musida Takes on Global Role for Women and Girls

Former Miss South Africa, Shudufhadzo Musida, has been named the United Nations Population Fund’s (UNFPA) Global Champion for Women and Girls.

She expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am honoured to be appointed UNFPA’s Global Champion for Women and Girls.”

Having worked closely with UNFPA for the past two years, Musida has seen firsthand the organisation’s impact in advancing gender equality and promoting sexual and reproductive health.

Her travels across East and Southern Africa have allowed her to meet inspiring individuals and hear powerful stories of change.

In her new role, Musida’s first campaign focuses on ending Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), which affects 230 million women and girls globally.

On the International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM, she emphasised her commitment to eradicating the practice and ensuring all girls can grow up free from harm.

Despite the challenges women and girls still face worldwide, Musida remains hopeful.

“For every barrier to progress, there are people fighting for a better future,” she said, calling for collective action to create a world where every woman and girl can live with safety, dignity, and opportunity.
