    Amapiano DJ and producer Uncle Waffles makes history as the first female artist to grace the cover of Rolling Stone Africa

    Swazi-born sensation Uncle Waffles (born Lungelihle Zwane) is breaking barriers and capturing hearts worldwide with her electrifying energy, bold style, and massive influence in the Amapiano movement.

    Rolling Stone Africa shared that for its February cover, they were searching for someone who embodies the African success story—and Uncle Waffles was the perfect fit. 

    “She’s someone who truly connects with the youth. She’s that perfect blend of music, style, and high-energy performance,” said D.R. Bellegarde Smeralda, CEO of Rolling Stone Africa.

    “She’s not just making history for herself—she’s making history for the entire Amapiano and Afro House community.”

    Uncle Waffles’ journey is a story of resilience and determination. While South Africa was in lockdown during COVID-19, she dedicated herself to perfecting her DJ skills, often spinning for up to eight hours a day.

    But it was a viral moment—her infectious dance moves behind the decks to Young Stunna’s “Adiwele”—that really set her on fire. The video went viral, even catching the attention of Drake, who quickly became one of her biggest fans. 

    The cover feature dives deep into Uncle Waffles incredible rise to global fame, tracing her path from humble beginnings to becoming the powerhouse known as Uncle Waffles. 

    Amapiano’s Reigning Queen

    Uncle Waffles isn’t just riding the Amapiano wave—she’s pushing it to new heights. Her debut EP Red Dragon (2022) introduced her signature sound, with the hit single “Tanzania” earning quadruple platinum status in South Africa.

    In 2023, she expanded her musical range with Asylum, blending hip-hop influences with her iconic Amapiano beats. 

    Her rise has led to international tours, headline festival performances, and collaborations with top-tier artists.
