Barbie® is making history with the introduction of a new Ken® doll modelled after basketball icon, author, activist, and philanthropist LeBron James.
In collaboration with the LeBron James Family Foundation, this marks the release of the very first Ken® doll representing a professional athlete—celebrating James’ influential impact on culture, style, and community.
LeBron shared the exciting news with his fans on Instagram, saying:
“Got me a mini me!! Unbelievably cool and an honour to be part of the Barbie® and Mattel family that continues to inspire the next generation.”
While widely celebrated for his legendary accomplishments on the basketball court, LeBron James is equally known for his cultural influence and fashion-forward presence. The new Ken® doll reflects that legacy—not only capturing his signature style but also standing out physically, measuring one inch taller than the standard Ken doll and presented in custom, larger packaging.
LeBron worked closely with the Barbie team to design every detail of the doll, which comes dressed in a custom varsity jacket layered over the LeBron James Family Foundation’s signature “We Are Family” T-shirt. The outfit is completed with Nike Terminator High sneakers, Beats headphones, sunglasses, a fanny pack, a watch, and his signature “I PROMISE” wristband.
The doll’s varsity jacket is adorned with meaningful patches that represent milestones from James’ life and career:
- A We Are Family patch honoring his foundation
- A 23 patch symbolising his iconic jersey number
- An Ohio patch paying tribute to his hometown roots
