Johnnie Walker Celebrates TitoM & Yuppe’s Big Win at Trace Awards

The Trace Awards in Tanzania recently lit up the night, honouring the incredible talent and creativity of Africa’s finest artists. As the platinum sponsor, Johnnie Walker didn’t just watch from the sidelines—they took centre stage by proudly sponsoring two of the most coveted categories: Song of the Year and Best Newcomer.

The spotlight shone brightest on rising stars TitoM & Yuppe, who walked away with the Song of the Year award for their chart-topping anthem, Tshwala Bam—a track that’s taking over dance floors and playlists everywhere.

In honour of their outstanding achievement, Johnnie Walker Africa officially handed over a $15,000 cheque (R 290 671,48) to the duo in recognition of their cultural impact and undeniable influence in shaping the sound of the continent at the Diageo head office in Johnannesburg on April 11.

What’s more, the duo has also been awarded with an immersive brand trip to tour the home of Johnnie Walker at the Johnnie Walker Princes Street, Scotland this year.

Tshwala Bam became more than just a song—it evolved into a global anthem, igniting dance floors, social media, and playlists worldwide. It solidified Titom & Yuppe as trailblazers in South Africa’s evolving music landscape and fresh voices of a new generation.

Ifeoma Agu, Group Head of Culture, Influencer and Advocacy at Diageo Southern, West and Central Africa, shared: “Johnnie Walker has always stood for progress, creativity, and bold expression. TitoM & Yuppe embody the spirit of a new generation of African artists—unapologetically authentic, innovative, and unstoppable. We’re proud to walk with them as they take their sound to the world.”

In expressing their gratitude, Titom & Yuppe added: “Winning Best Song of the Year is a dream come true. We made ‘Tshwala Bam’ from the heart, and to see how far it’s travelled is surreal. Thank you to Trace, our fans, and to Johnnie Walker Africa for recognising our journey and believing in the power of our sound.”

This moment reflects Johnnie Walker’s commitment to honouring artists who push boundaries, shift culture, and continue to inspire through their creativity. As African music continues to rise on the global stage, Johnnie Walker remains proud to stand behind the bold voices, powerful beats, and unforgettable stories shaping the continent’s future sound.
