Amapiano, the style of house music that emerged in South Africa in 2012 will finally have its own music Awards show after being snubbed by many SA awards organizers.
Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela broke the news for us on Twitter.
The organizers aren’t revealed, but in the statement, it says that “The Governing body of the inaugural awards decided to come up with a ceremony that will specifically celebrate the genre.”
The awards show has 20 categories and each winner is to go home with R10k, while Song of the Year will take home a cash prize of R50k.
The statement says the announcement of nominees will be made on Monday, 19th of July on Mac G’s Podcast and Chill.
