The Peacock Theater was filled with celebration and culture as the 2026 BET Awards honoured some of the biggest names in music, entertainment, and sports. Hosted by comedian Druski, who made history as the youngest host of the ceremony, the night delivered unforgettable performances, emotional tributes, and major career moments.
The show opened with a powerful performance from T.I., who made a dramatic entrance from the ceiling wearing a giant crown. He performed “Let ’Em Know” alongside his son, King Harris. Druski kept the audience entertained throughout the night with his signature comedy, including a live “Coulda Been Records” audition segment and a joke where he created his own fictional “Pulse Award.”
One of the biggest moments of the night came when Teyana Taylor received the first-ever Icon of the Year Award. The surprise presentation by Janet Jackson left Taylor emotional before she even accepted the award. Taylor also had a major night, winning Best Actress, Video Director of the Year, and the new Fashion Vanguard Award. During her speech, she reflected on her 20-year career and encouraged artists to believe in their success and stop doubting themselves. The ceremony also celebrated music legends. Ms. Lauryn Hill received the Living Legend Icon Award after a special tribute performance featuring SZA, Nas, Doja Cat, Tems, and Queen Latifah. Hill later surprised fans with a live performance of “Ex-Factor.” Sylvia Rhone, the Chairman and CEO of Epic Records, was also honoured with the Ultimate Icon Award for her decades of leadership in the music industry.
Another emotional tribute celebrated the late D’Angelo. His children introduced a special performance featuring his longtime band, The Vanguard, alongside Ari Lennox, RAYE, and George Clinton.
The night’s awards recognised both legends and rising stars. Cardi B, who entered the ceremony with six nominations, won Best Female Hip Hop Artist. Rap duo Clipse took home the biggest music award of the night, winning Album of the Year for Let God Sort Em Out.
Other winners included:
- Kehlani – Best Female R&B/Pop Artist
