Sean “Diddy” Combs could be getting out of prison sooner than expected again.
The Bad Boy Records founder’s projected release date has been moved up once more, with the latest Federal Bureau of Prisons records now listing January 21, 2028 as his expected release date.
That’s another change to a date that has already shifted several times. Diddy’s release was previously listed as February 5, 2028, after earlier projections had placed it later in February and, initially, in June 2028.
Diddy, 56, is currently serving a 50-month federal prison sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. He was convicted in 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.
The music mogul has already spent more than a year in custody since his September 2024 arrest, with that time credited towards his sentence. His legal team is also appealing his conviction and sentence.

Diddy’s time behind bars has also made headlines after he was reportedly involved in an altercation with another inmate earlier this year. He was subsequently reported to have spent time in solitary confinement, although the Federal Bureau of Prisons does not publicly comment on individual inmates’ disciplinary matters.
His participation in a federal drug-abuse rehabilitation programme may also affect the length of his sentence. Federal prison programmes can provide eligible inmates with sentence reductions, meaning his projected release date could still change.
For now, January 21, 2028 is the latest projected date
