Television presenter Jeremy Clarkson has shared some uplifting health news, revealing that he is officially in remission after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. The 66-year-old broadcaster, best known for Top Gear and Clarkson’s Farm, first revealed his diagnosis in the final episodes of Season 5 of the Amazon Prime series. The season ended with Clarkson recovering in a hospital bed, leaving many viewers concerned about his condition.
Soon after the episode aired, Clarkson reassured fans on social media with his trademark humour. He later explained that the cancer was discovered during a routine medical check-up. After undergoing further testing, including a biopsy, doctors diagnosed him with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.
Fortunately, the disease was caught at a very early stage. He underwent surgery to remove around 10% of his prostate, targeting the area where the cancer was located. A follow-up prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test later showed no signs of active cancer, confirming that he is now in remission.
Speaking to The Sunday Times, Clarkson described himself as “without a doubt, officially, the world’s luckiest man.” He admitted the diagnosis was frightening, explaining that because the cancer was aggressive, it had the potential to spread quickly if it hadn’t been detected early. The health scare comes less than two years after Clarkson underwent emergency heart surgery to treat blocked arteries and had two stents fitted.
