South African artist, songwriter and producer Ngasii steps into a new chapter with his debut solo single, Summer In South
Ah!”, arriving 9 October 2026.
At just 23 years old, Ngasii co-wrote “Banomoya” by Prince Kaybee, Busiswa and TNS, which became the 2018 South African
Summer Song of the Year. The song sparked a long-standing creative relationship with Prince Kaybee, while Ngasii has since
written and created alongside artists including Tyla, Msaki and Musa Keys, further establishing his presence within South
Africa’s contemporary songwriting and production landscape.
It is fitting that Musa Keys returns to the story behind “Summer in South Ah!”, contributing additional engineering alongside
DJ and producer Privacii. The track also features electric guitar by acclaimed thespian and musician Sne Dladla.
Written and produced by Ngasii, “Summer in South Ah!” seamlessly fuses 3Step, Afrohouse, Pop and R&B into an upbeat
celebration of the South African summer. The song compares a loved one to the magic of the season — from the soul-warming
December light to the “spirit in the air” of a “function anywhere”, evoking sweet images of imicimbi: the weddings, reunions,

homecomings and celebrations that bring people together.
Beneath its upbeat surface is a sense of nostalgia, recalling the sparkle and anticipation of childhood Decembers while
encouraging listeners to recognise that magic in the present and appreciate that it has been there “from the start.”
The single arrives after years of Ngasii contributing his songwriting and production talents to other artists, including Musa
Keys’ 2025 Xigubu EP track “Awuna Mahloni” with TribeSoul and Aymos, as well as “Ngisize” with Skillz, Konke and Ticozet.
Now, with “Summer in South Ah!”, Ngasii moves from collaborator to lead artist. The name Ngasii has carried a sense of
ambition since he was 11 years old, when he first began making beats and sharing his music at school in Khowa (formerly
Elliot), Eastern Cape.
“Superstar” became a term of endearment then — a nickname that has followed him through years of
growth and creative work. “Summer in South Ah!” by Ngasii is released on 9 October 2026.
