Relebogile Mabotja, the host and associate producer of Untied, is celebrating another significant milestone as the Showmax Original receives recognition from the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs). The recognition marks an important moment for the production and its continued contribution to conversations about women’s experiences, relationships and life after divorce.
Known for its honest and emotionally layered exploration of divorce, Untied brings together some of South Africa’s most recognisable women to share their experiences of heartbreak, survival and rebuilding. Through candid conversations that move beyond public perception, the series creates space for stories that are often left unspoken, approaching them with sensitivity and an emphasis on the women behind the headlines.
Relebogile Mabotja serves as both host and associate producer on the series, bringing her experience as a multi-award-winning broadcaster and producer to a project centred on meaningful storytelling. Her contribution extends beyond the screen, helping shape a production that prioritises the dignity and complexity of the women sharing their experiences.
Reflecting on the nomination, Relebogile Mabotja expressed her gratitude to the team and contributors who brought the production to life. “I’m grateful to the production team at GOAT and to Showmax and MultiChoice for trusting me to be part of bringing this show to life. I’m equally grateful to the phenomenal women who came forward to share their stories and some of the most vulnerable parts of themselves with us. Their honesty is at the heart of what makes Untied so meaningful, and this recognition is deeply appreciated.”
The SAFTA recognition adds to the journey of Untied, a Showmax Original produced by GOAT, the team behind some of Showmax’s most watched titles. The series has distinguished itself through its willingness to confront difficult conversations around divorce, family conflict, emotional recovery and the process of rebuilding one's life.
The 2026 South African Film and Television Awards ceremony will take place on 19 November 2026 at the Theatre of Marcellus, Emperors Palace. The awards celebrate achievements across South Africa's film and television industries, recognising the talent and creative work contributing to the country's entertainment landscape.
