That simple question became the centrepiece of a unique initiative by Hisense South Africa, Official Sponsor of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, which brought a group of young footballers from Khayelitsha on a journey designed to encourage them to think beyond the communities they know and imagine what their futures could become.
At the summit, each child was asked one question: What is your biggest dream?
Some spoke about representing Bafana Bafana. Others dreamed of becoming teachers, doctors, entrepreneurs and leaders in their communities.
What's your hot take on this story?
The experience formed part of Hisense’s new Hands on the Future initiative, which combines football with practical community investment. Beyond the journey itself, the company donated full football kits and training equipment to four local teams, directly benefiting 68 young players in Cape Town, with a further rollout planned in Johannesburg.
With the FIFA World Cup now over, the story shifts from the tournament itself to the legacy global partnerships can leave in local communities, and how sport can be used to inspire young South Africans long after the final whistle.
