Media personality and singer Unathi Nkayi shared a touching tribute to the late jeweller and philanthropist Jenna Clifford, reflecting on their decades-long bond that spanned milestones, memories, and moments of deep support.
In a heartfelt Instagram post following the news of Clifford’s passing, Nkayi recounted personal stories that revealed the warmth and generosity behind the iconic jeweller’s public persona.
“AUNTY JENNA. Thank you for a wonderful life. Thank you for being an integral part of my family.”
Clifford played a central role in some of Unathi’s most intimate life moments. She recalled how Jenna, together with her loved ones, helped orchestrate a surprise engagement in Madrid and later designed her wedding bands.
“I remember you and T designing my wedding bands and planning my surprise engagement with dad, T and Coco in Madrid.”
“The next morning, I told you, ‘Aunty Jenna, as we speak I’m only wearing your diamonds right now in my birthday suit having a mimosa with my fiancé!’”
“Darling, True Love has called and they want you in my diamonds and pearls for the cover… We’re going to shoot it at the Michael Angelo Towers and don’t worry—I’ll have a thousand bodyguards there to make you feel safe.”
It’s clear that Clifford’s unwavering presence during Unathi’s darkest days defined their relationship. After her departure from Kaya FM, the singer noted that Clifford offered solace not with words—but with food and quiet companionship.
“You’d call and say, ‘Be here in an hour, I’m making you oxtail.’ We’d sit in silence in your kitchen while you poured your heart into that pot of love.”
In recent months, Unathi said Jenna gently helped her navigate the loss of her father, unknowingly preparing everyone for her own quiet goodbye: “All this time you were saying goodbye to us all.”
“I love you young lady. Thank you for loving me Aunty Jenna.”
