Dineo Ranaka who was last week involved in a fiery twitter storm has been ditched by her PR Agency, Ndabezitha PR & Communications. The reasons for the parting of ways according to a press statement from the PR agency is over the differences the two parties had in handling the @MsMnisi twitter debacle that trended for most of last week and over the weekend.
ICYMI, last week a young matric girl who goes by the name of @MissMnisi on twitter send Dineo Ranaka a request for her to help her out with a matric dance dress to which Dineo said:
“A matric dance should be the VERY least of your stresses. The aim is not to look rich but to be rich #education1st.”
That’s when the whole of twitter came down harshly on Dineo and how insensitive she was. One good thing that came out of that was that most people came on board and offered to help the young lady with donations of dresses, this act of philanthropy also saw some celebrities offering to help.
In trying to turn the situation around, Dineo on Saturday, visited and slept over at Dimpho's home, in Mpumalanga and the following morning posted a video on Instagram with the girl, her friends and family, going against the wishes of her PR team.
As this was not how her PR agency envisioned for the situation to be handled and because neither party was willing to back in this case, they have decided to terminate their relationship. A part of the PR statement released by the agency reads:
"As a PR company, it is our job to protect and create a good image for our clients, however, with this particular situation, there was no crisis management plan in place as the client did not want to apologise. Miss Ranaka has now officially apologised to the Mnisi family. Her intentions were never to harm or make a mockery of the family as she has dreams of teaching the nation and will continue to do so. She has however declined the option of issuing a public apology."
Now if only more and more people could think before they tweet, there would be less of this to deal with. ESA
