Cristiano Ronaldo won’t face rape charges in Las Vegas

Portuguese soccer big name Cristiano Ronaldo will face no charges in Las Vegas in reference to a 10-year-old sexual attack allegation for the reason that case can’t be confirmed beyond a reasonable doubt, prosecutors mentioned on Monday.

Ronaldo, who is extensively considered one of the largest soccer avid gamers of all time and performs for the Italian club Juventus, has maintained he is blameless. Kathryn Mayorga filed a civil lawsuit in September 2018 in state court in Nevada accusing the athlete of raping her in a Las Vegas hotel penthouse suite in 2009, then paying her $375,000 in hush money.

A Lady is known as Las Vegas police on June 13, 2009, to record that she was sexually assaulted and police took her to the health center for an exam, the Clark County District Attorney’s Office stated in a statement on Monday. She declined to spot the person who she mentioned assaulted her. The remark didn’t determine the woman, however, Mayorga’s civil lawsuit mirrors the allegation outlined through prosecutors.

Mayorga and Ronaldo reached a civil settlement in 2010 and law enforcement didn’t hear once more from her until August 28, 2018, when she asked the police to reopen the investigation. She mentioned Ronaldo was once the person who sexually assaulted her, prosecutors said. Las Vegas police on July 8 asked the Clark County District Attorney’s Office to prosecute the case.

“Based upon an evaluation of the guidelines offered at this time, the allegations of sexual assault against Cristiano Ronaldo can’t be proven beyond an affordable doubt,” the District Attorney’s Office said in a commentary on Monday.

Ronaldo’s legal professional, Peter Christiansen, didn’t go back calls. Attorneys for Mayorga may just no longer be reached for comment. Las Vegas police mentioned in January they had officially asked the Italian government to obtain a DNA sample from Ronaldo.

Police didn’t immediately reply on Monday to emails asking in the event that they ever obtained the DNA. The civil lawsuit, wherein Mayorga sought more than $200,000 in damages, has been moved to federal court. Mayorga and Ronaldo, in keeping with the go well with, met in Las Vegas at a nightclub sooner than she joined a bunch of people going to his penthouse suite to view the Las Vegas Strip.
