Chris Brown was arrested in Manchester in the early hours of Thursday (May 15), in connection with an alleged violent assault that took place more than two years ago at a London nightclub.
The 36-year-old artist was reportedly detained by Metropolitan Police at The Lowry Hotel in Salford, just hours after arriving in the city on a private jet. Brown is currently in the UK ahead of his upcoming world tour, scheduled to begin in three weeks.
According to TMZ, Brown was taken into custody on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
According to the online source, law enforcement officials state that the arrest is linked to an incident that took place on February 19, 2023, at Tape nightclub in London’s Mayfair district.
Brown is accused of assaulting music producer Abe Diaw during the alleged altercation. Reports claim that the singer struck Diaw with a bottle, then proceeded to punch and kick him.
Speaking to The Sun at the time, Diaw alleged that the attack was unprovoked and described it as “brutal.”
“At the time, Diaw told The Sun that Chris smashed him over the head with a bottle and then punched and kicked him.”
