Starting in Mzansi and reaching international stages, the Ndlovu Youth Choir stands for more than just music. Their goal is to show the world that South Africa is a nation on the rise, full of hope and resilience.
On Wednesday, September 24, the choir lit up the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, with an unforgettable stop on their Heritage Tour. Sponsored by FNB, this tour has taken them from small towns to big cities, proving once again that talent rooted in community can capture the hearts of the world.
The performance was a vibrant blend of tradition and innovation. The choir paid tribute to icons like Hugh Masekela, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, and Oliver Mtukudzi, opening with a goosebump-inducing rendition of Circle of Life. Just when the audience thought it couldn’t get more African, the choir layered in storytelling, movement, and raw energy that pulled everyone into the experience.
The night was more than a tribute to legends. The biggest surprise was when the choir changed direction and performed their new single Liberate Love, a song made for today’s generation. After that, the setlist became even more daring, with a South African version of Bohemian Rhapsody, their global hit Higher Love, and more songs from their album From Limpopo to the World.
Every note, every step, every harmony was delivered with the kind of passion that says: this might be our last performance, so we’re giving it everything. The Ndlovu Youth Choir didn’t just perform, they owned the stage, and as the youth like to say, they left no crumbs.
