From the dusty streets of a township to making it all the way to Hollywood, Terry Pheto is one of our favourite success stories. Born Moitheri Pheto on the 11th of May 1981, the actress has achieved a lot of milestones in her career.

Earlier this week, Terry Pheto walked away with the Film award at the 6th annual Mbokodo Awards, which were held in Cape Town.

The Mbokodo Awards were created to recognise women who have shown leadership, fostered growth and made efforts to strengthen the arts. The awards are a unique platform that consolidates the incredible work done by South African women through honouring their immense contribution in their respective fields.
