Kelly K stands firm after walkout: Do you think bullies would scare me?

Musician Kelly Khumalo has spoken out for the first time on social media after she walked off the stage at an EFF rally amidst chants of  “Senzo” and a banner calling for justice for the murder of late Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa.

Kelly, who was in a relationship with the soccer star at the time of his death in October 2014, was performing at the Chatsworth stadium over the weekend when the audience started the chants.

According to Sowetan, the chants started at the back of the crowd and soon after Kelly signalled to the DJ that she would only perform one more song and after it, she walked off stage and left the venue.

The star did not speak to anyone before heading into a white SUV and being whisked away, but took to social media on Monday to address the “bullies who find comfort in hurting people”.

She told her supporters that she was not afraid of those who were trying to intimidate her and dared them to touch her.

She went on to retweet messages of support she had been given after the incident and thanked fans for standing up for her.

The incident comes just over a week after Kelly told eNCA that she was angry that police had not found the person responsible for Senzo’s death.

“I don’t know why police have not found the perpetrators. There were fingerprints. A hat (belonging to one of the armed men) was found. There were witnesses.”

Meanwhile ANC elections head Fikile Mbalula found himself in the centre of a Twitter storm when he weighed in on the matter with an ambiguous tweet.

He commented “Nice nice” on a tweet about Kelly’s walk out.

Some believed that he was applauding Kelly for standing up for herself and walking away when provoked.

Others slammed him and pointed out that when he was still police minister, Mbalula promised that those responsible for Meyiwa’s murder would be arrested.
