The KwaZulu-Natal government has announced it will be writing to President Cyril Ramaphosa propose for a special official funeral to honour late Ladysmith Black Mambazo founder, Joseph Shabalala.
Joseph took his last breathe on Tuesday morning in a Pretoria hospital after a long illness.
While tributes continue to pour in from all the four corners of the world, the provincial government says Shabalala is a legend who should be given a befitting send-off.
“As the provincial government, we will now start with plans to engage the President, write to him and ask that Shabalala be honoured with a special funeral because the whole world will be watching his funeral,” said KZN Arts and Culture MEC Hlengiwe Mavimbela.
Shabalala’s family announced that the late star will be laid to rest on 22 February in Ladysmith.
