    Madikizela-Mandelas family demand privacy.

Former first lady, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s family has pleaded with the public and the media to respect her privacy and that of her family during this difficult time of her impending surgery and hospitalisation.

The former first lady's spokesperson, Zodwa Zwane released a statement just hours after news of her hospitalisation, which read:

“The family appreciates the well wishes, but they would like the media and everybody else to respect their privacy,”

"The family is thankful for your prayers and support whilst they appreciate your respect for their privacy,” read the statement. Zwane would not be drawn on giving further details on Madikizela-Mandela's health or condition.

The ANC stalwart was admitted to hospital on 7 March, and underwent surgery on her back the following day. Sources who are close to the family have said that the stalwart is struggling to make a full recovery as she has a pre-existing diabetes condition that's making her recovery slow, plus her advanced age isn't making it any easier. It is also learned that Madikizela-Mandela is scheduled for a follow up operation once she recovers from this operation.

Entertainment-SA would like to wish a speedy and full recovery to the mother of the nation, let us all keep her in our prayers as she undergoes this difficult but necessary procedure.
