SAs first nudist beach launching tomorrow

The first ever nudist beach is set to open on Friday in Durban.

If you plan to go skinny-dipping at South Africa's first legal nude beach, make sure you cover up any "unpredictable erections".

You will also have to ensure that you don't "dance provocatively", take photographs without permission, stare at other beachgoers or sit naked on someone else's beach chair.

These are some of the rules being put in place at Trafalgar beach on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast.

Despite conflicting reports suggesting that the launching of the beach has been postponed indefinitely, the South African Nudist Association (SANNA) has confirmed that the beach would be open to public.

“This is a ‘try run’ and we will have a volleyball set on the beach and do some silly games (sack races etc) in order to make everybody’s stay on the beach more enjoyable,” SANNA chairperson Serge Pavlovic was quoted on SA Breaking News.

A 500m stretch of the beach, which falls within the Mpenjati Nature Reserve, was given official nude beach status by the Hibiscus Coast municipality at the beginning of November.

Concerned Citizens' Group has been objecting to the launch of the beach saying that the Hibicust Coast Municipality did not properly engage the public before granting SANNA's application for the beach.
