Doris, along with her daughter Lilian Meyer and other relatives from Bloemfontein visited Soweto in Johannesburg to celebrate a white wedding of Mapule Nobangela and Lawrence Nobangela on Saturday.

According to our source the invited family members were gathered and waiting for the wedding to start when a white speeding bakkie appeared out of nowhere and hit a 10 year old girl who is related to bride and the couple’s 7 year old girl on the neck.

10 year old Lilian Meyer died at the scene but the couples 7 year old Nompumelelo Nobangela was rushed to hospital.

Lilian’s aunt, Margaret Khubeka (62), said she was watching Lilian and Nompumelelo playing beside the road suddenly, the driver of a speeding white bakkie lost control and swerved off the road. “The bakkie hit Nompumelelo, sending her flying. Then it hit Lilian and drove over her before stopping.”

Doris also witness helplessly when her daughter died. “I saw it happen. I screamed. I couldn’t believe what was happening. And she added, “We were expecting a day of celebration. Now we are mourning. “I am in great pain, but I will forgive the driver.

After the family of the driver confirmed he has diabetic seizure Doris asked, “if family knew he was a sick man so how could they let him drive in his condition?”
