On Sunday, the family of Fezekile Ntsukela Kuzwayo confirmed that she has died.

Fezekile Ntsukela Kuzwayo, the woman who accused President Jacob Zuma of rape in 2006 has yielded her soul to its benevolent author.

Fezekile, also known as ‘’Khwezi’’was confirmed dead by her family on Saturday.

“In our family she was lovingly known as Fezeka, and in the public domain her supporters called her Khwezi.

“She was a loving soul. A daughter, a sister and an aunt we will forever hold dear in our hearts. We loved her in life, let us never forget her after death.”

To honour her dignity, her family have asked that they be spared from public drama so that they can mourn privately and focus on funeral preparations.

Family spokeswoman Bunie Matlanyane Sexwale said Khuzwayo had been ailing. She said this was a sad time for her mother‚ Beauty Khuzwayo‚ as they were very close.

“She had been unwell. Her mother wished it known that her child was ill and she had passed on. She was studying for early childhood development‚ which was her passion‚” Sexwale says.

Khwezi’s family called for a private funeral ceremony that only allows close family and friends to attend.

Information about a public memorial service will soon be announced.
