Former minister Malusi Gigaba’s wife, Norma, was arrested on Friday for alleged assault and malicious damage to property, News24 can confirm.
Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi told News24 on Friday evening that a suspect has been arrested, after a warrant of arrest was executed.
“The suspect is facing charges of assault and malicious damage to property,” Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi told News24 on Friday.
News24 has reliably learnt that the suspect is indeed Norma Gigaba.
She will spend the weekend in police cells ahead of her court appearance at Hatfield Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
A video of a damaged vehicle went viral on social media this week.
It is believed the vehicle belongs to her husband, Malusi.
During an on-air interview with broadcaster eNCA, Mulaudzi who still declined to confirm the suspect’s identity, confirmed that the former minister had been assaulted, but would not elaborate on the extent of the injuries inflicted.
