MaXhosa’s work replica or just another designer with similar interest?

The fashion world has become so broad and dangerous, it has become a battle of the most creative. Designers often draw inspiration from everywhere but lately one can’t ignore the how the prints have become so popular.

Laduma Ngxokolo is one of the fashion design heavyweights in the industry both in the country and abroad, he is part of the new wave of Mzansi creatives who have won the hearts of many fashionistas nationally and internationally. The fashion designer has a deep respect for his Xhosa culture and judging from his work it is hard to ignore. The designer has managed to visually translate the Xhosa culture and language into world-class designs. The young designer has dressed some of the biggest stars such Beyonce, Swizz Beats and our very own Black Coffee

This morning social commentator, Kgopolo Mphela, took to his twitter account the amazing work of this designer and immediately, tweeps thought it was about MaXhosa, the tweeps were convinced the designs belonged to MaXhosa only to find that the designs belonged to Ephymol a brand by Ephraim Molingoana.

By the look of things, it seems that this designer has always been around, way before MaXhosa blossomed, doing similar work…well that is according to one tweep. But majority of the fans are convinced that this is another Zara situation and Maxhosa should take the legal route.

While the Xhosa culture may be broad, the prints are not that many… is this a replica of MaXhosa or it’s just another Xhosa designer who is still coming up in the fashion industry?
