The municipality of Ekurhuleni has honoured Kwesta for his phenomenal achievements in the South African music industry.
29-year-old Kwesta, real name Senzo Vilakazi, told Daily Sun: “I’m very happy to be honoured like this by the city. Not even in my wildest dreams did I think it would be possible.”
Ekurhuleni spokeswoman Sphelele Nxele said the name Kwesta reminded everyone of excellence.
“This year the young man has pushed the boundaries of the South African music industry even further,” she said.
His dance song Ngud‘saw Kwesta walking away with the Highest Airplay of the Year and Best Collaboration awards at the SAMAs.
He recently released the hit Spirit, featuring American rapper Wale. It has already had over two million hits on YouTube.
Nxele said: “It is for these amazing achievements that the city wishes to honour Kwesta for hoisting the flag high and inspiring a spirit of excellence.
“He has done it not only for the youth of Ekurhuleni but for everyone in South Africa.”
