Phalaborwa strike results to Children not attending school…

Namakgale, Mashishimale, Makhushane and other residents in the surroundings of Ba-Phalaborwa municipality went on a rampage on Sunday evening, which is leading to children not going to school.

Three trucks and two bakkies have been torched by protesters to express dissatisfaction with the Palaborwa Mining Company (PMC). It is reported that the protest started the previous week, where protester stopped a bus transporting PMC personnel to work.

An unnamed source mentioned to Entertainment SA that some of the striking residents said PMC undermined them as there were talks of a new steel plant to be opened in Mpumalanga instead of Phalaborwa. They said, “Enough is enough! We have been engaging with PMC for a very long time and they don’t want to listen to us. This is our land and we cannot allow those Chinese and their puppets to milk our land and in return our people still living in abject poverty. We need local people to be employed ahead of outsiders and for nepotism to be a thing of the past.”
One of the protesters said they gave PMC seven working days to explain why they employed outsiders ahead of locals.

We at Entertainment SA hope that the matter can be resolved soon, as it is affecting so many lives.

It is currently reported that the strike is not only affecting PMC and the protesters but also innocent little lives that are not able to make ways to their schools due to the roads being blocked.
