Hello Uncle T, I am a 33-year-old single male who lives in Johannesburg and I have a problem with my best friend’s wife who is trying to build a relationship with me after we slept together. Although I am ashamed of what I did to my friend, I feel that it is not fair for her to seek a romantic bond with me because we only did it once and we swore never to do it again.
The thing is, my friend is not treating her good, so she once came over at night crying and seeking someone to comfort her after he physically abused her, that’s when we did the deed. However, instead of moving on like nothing happened, she seems to be catching feelings and we can’t have that because my friend will kill me if he finds out about what happened, please help! I get all the points that you have made in your letter, however, I do not get why you still address the husband as your ‘’best friend’’ after what you and his wife did. Not that I’m judging you, but I feel that it is inappropriate for you to address him in that manner because best friends do not betray each other.
Another thing is, you cannot expect the wife not to seek any romantic bond with you after what you guys did, that’s totally preposterous! It is a known fact that sex is not just ‘’sex’’ for women, it is something special, something that proves that she likes you. On that note, this whole situation could’ve easily been avoided if you as a friend had given the couple some advice on how to handle their drama, without jumping into bed with a vulnerable wife.
I see no other honest way of fixing this mess without you being honest with your ‘’friend’’ about everything and apologizing for it. I see many people claiming to be best friends with each other. However, real friends do not betray each other, they look out for each other, they see each other as brothers/sisters and would never do anything to jinx their friendship.
