Slick Woods, the American fashion model who went into labour just moments after walking Rihanna’s Fenty runway show, has been ‘designing in her sleep’ and has teamed up with The Kooples to create an exclusive sneaker collection.
Ms. Woods’ (real name Simone Marie Thompson) sock-like sneakers feature over-sized calf-skin leather velcro straps that lace up and come in a variety of different monochrome shades. They’re basically an urban-trainer dream come true.
‘My trainers are designed to look good with everything – why wouldn’t you buy a pair? And why stop at just one? We wanted to create a sneaker that embraces the idea of going fast!’, she told British Vogue.
Woods was excited to get involved with French retailer, The Kooples, as an outlet for her creativity and to reflect her own style and personality.
‘I’ve been designing ever since I was dreaming in my sleep. I’ve always been a creative, a thinker. This is the first of many major collaborations and designing outlets.’
‘Since the shoes are so much of my personality, the setting needed to reflect that. They go hard – those are two words I’m synonymous with – and got my vision immediately.’
The sneakers are priced from R4655 to R4845 and can be purchased at Thekooples.co.uk/slick-woods.
