The Life and Trials of Oscar Pistorius documentary is finally here

The Life and Trials of Oscar Pistorius Documentary is finally here. A few years ago, news broke about the release of a movie titled, ‘Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer. In the movie, South African actor Andreas Damm played Oscar and German model Toni Garrn as Reeva. This did not sit well, with many South Africans, who were not happy about how the movie was portrayed. Matters worse, the family of the late Reeva Steenkamp claimed that they were not consulted.

Just like, any other celebrated public figure. Oscar’s life always sparks public interest. Hence, a new documentary, “The Life and Trials of Oscar Pistorius” has been produced. The Life and Trials of Oscar Pistorius, features interviews with more than a dozen of the figures closest to the story. It also, recounts Pistorius’s fall from grace after the killing of his girlfriend, Reeva in the early hours of February 14, 2013 in his home in Pretoria.

Over 200 interviews were conducted for this documentary, with Director Daniel Gordon and his film crew traveling across the world, over a period of four years to conduct theses interviews. The documentary, will premiere from Thursday, November 19 at 8pm on ESPN. The four-part documentary series forms part of the 30 for 30 sports documentary series, a celebration of ESPN’s 30th anniversary.

Pistorius shot Steenkamp in the early hours of Valentine’s Day when he fired four shots through the door of his toilet, an act he maintained resulted from mistaking her for a burglar. The former Paralympian was initially sentenced to six years in jail, but this was extended to 13 years and five months by the Supreme Court of Appeal.
