Vundla brings back Mawande to spice things up on Generations

Our source at Entertainment SA confirmed that things are allegedly falling apart at Generations: The Legacy!

In a bid to save the soapie’s ratings, producers are bringing back Nambitha Mpumlwana known as Mawande. “This is part of the producers’ strategy to increase the ratings of the show, since the soapie is no longer the undisputed number one when it comes to local soapie viewership.” They had to decide on whether they keep trying or bring back some old flame to keep viewers glued to the soapie.

The source added Mawande will be added to a new storyline that involves Tau Mogale (played Rapulana Seiphemo) and the wicked Kumkani “Gadaffi” Phakade (played by Vuyo Dabula), who, a few months ago, announced he would be to be leaving the show.  “Nambitha will be a blood relative of one of the two,” the source said.

Nambitha played Mawande Memela in the former Generations. She was a media mogul and the mother of MJ Memela (played by Anga Makubalo) and Noluntu Memela (played by Zenande Mfenyane).

Nambitha was also one of the axed “Generations 16” who went on strike demanding better wages, long-term contracts and royalties from rebroadcasts.

Others rumoured to be joining the soapie in the near future include Palesa Madisakwane, who used to play Palesa in the soapie. Vusi Kunene, who used to play Jack Mabaso in the old Generations, was confirmed as having started shooting with the soapie.

Recently Nambitha played Mandlakazi Namane in e.tv’s telenovela, Ashes to Ashes.

Generations: The Legacy’s executive producer, Mfundi Vundla, refused to comment. When called for comment, Nambitha asked that we send an email but hail failed to respond at the time of going to print.
