South Africa’s favourite comedian Mpho Popps is one man that makes sure that everywhere he goes, he leaves a good joke behind. This is something he learned during his humbling days that a good laugh a day keeps the poverty at bay.
The local comedian shared stories of his humble beginnings with host Donovan Goliath in Episode 3 of The Lite Show, and after being pranked by fellow comedian Lihle Msimang, the three shared lessons learnt from the last decade in the SA comedy scene and how they prepare themselves for gigs in this extended interview.
The comedian, actor, and businessman shared about his hairstyle inspiration from Eddie Murphy in Dream Girls, for his look as a host for the SAFTAs. He further spoke about his transition from stage to TV and brings light to a frequently asked question about his relationship with model and personality, Roseanna Hall aka The Golden Rose.
The episode closed out with a fire performance by Mikhalé Jones, who is a neo-soul, trap and pop singer and dancer. Her sultry voice and chilled vibes were a perfect end to a beautiful episode that left audiences laughing until their sides hurt.
Due to Level 4 restrictions, the Castle Lite team have made the responsible choice to put production of The Lite Show on hold. We will be back soon with more engaging interviews and, of course, the lite news. In the meantime, be safe, responsible, and use this time to catch up on Episodes one, two and three, which are available to stream on YouTube.
