Who is Natalie Desselle-Reid? The ‘Madea’ actor that has died at 53
The American actress well known as Tammy on Madea’s Big Happy Family, Desselle-Reid died Monday morning from colon cancer. We all know her character but who was she apart from that?
Born and bred in in Alexandria, Louisiana, Desselle-Reid was the daughter of Thelma and Paul Desselle. She graduated from Peabody Magnet High School and attended Grambling State University.
The star was quite big as she appeared in several films, including B.A.P.S., Def Jam’s How to be a player, Set it off and Cinderella. She also appeared television series Built to Last, For Your Love, and Eve.
Desselle-Reid’s family announced in an Instagram post. “It is with extremely heavy hearts that we share the loss of our beautiful Natalie this morning from colon cancer,” her family wrote. She passed away at the age of 53 years.
