Award-winning amapiano producer Kelvin Momo returns to Durban this weekend to headline the second annual eThekwini Shisanyama Festival, alongside Goldmax, DJ Cndo, Bello B and host Mgilane, for a day bringing together music, food, culture and entertainment.
Taking place on Saturday, 26 September 2026 at Berea Rovers, the festival’s wider line-up includes Chynaman, DJ Happygal and Loki, adding a mix of amapiano, Afro House and dance music to the day’s programme. A special surprise guest will also grace the stage during the festival, with the identity being kept under wraps until the event.
Kelvin Momo’s return to Durban comes as the city prepares for a festival that taps into its long-standing relationship with dance music, nightlife and social gatherings. The headline performance will be complemented by sets from some of Durban and South Africa’s established names, giving festivalgoers a programme that brings different generations and sounds of the local dance scene together.
“A shisanyama is fundamentally about community and gathering around food. We listened to what people told us after the first edition and wanted this year’s offering to better reflect the diversity of our audience. Everyone should be able to find something they can enjoy and feel considered,” says festival founder Lunga Mkhize.
Security has also been strengthened for this year’s event, with additional measures in place to create a safer environment for festivalgoers, with particular attention to the safety and wellbeing of women. The organisers say the focus is on ensuring that people can enjoy the festival in an environment where they feel secure and respected.

Returning during Heritage Month, the second edition of the eThekwini Shisanyama Festival taps into the social traditions that have long brought South Africans together — good food, music and community. It also puts Durban’s distinctive entertainment culture at the centre of a weekend expected to draw music lovers and festivalgoers to the city.
