It’s not often that you’re invited to an event that equally creates anticipation and exceeds expectation. Last weekend, the 27th of June, we got invited to the 3rd annual Ladies First On Stage event. We’ve heard of the event and were really excited by the opportunity to work with their team and help amplify their night for patrons in attendance and across social media.

Needless to say we were well taken care of. Transport? Not a problem. Accommodation? Sorted. We got the superstar treatment. The journey began in Rosebank; we hopped aboard a vehicle offered to media activators to help us make the trip to Middelburg. The trip went perfectly; we arrived at the guesthouse, quickly got our rooms and moved to the venue to set up our cameras and other equipment. Before we arrived we had questions about the event’s location. Why was the event all the way in Mpumalanga whilst Gauteng is the prime area to host events? Once the event began the answer to our question was quickly evident.

The energy within the crowd was electric. Women flooded the doors with their friends, brothers and sisters, and partners. Through meticulous, grueling research (just asking questions and being friendly) people let us know that they came to Ladies First On Stage this year to see their favourite artists, majority of answers being Sjava and Lamiez Holworthy. You’d ignorantly think Middelburg is in the middle of nowhere but the people that live there certainly don’t share that sentiment. They really know how to party. The night was filled with laughter, food, drinks and lots of singing and dancing.

The lineup for the event boasted heavyhitters including Babalwa M, Thatohatsi & Tracy, Sjava and Lamiez Holworthy, and the host with the most, Cedric Tsongaboy. Cedric opened the night with an energy so infectious nobody could stay in their seat. He put on an absolute showstopper and even changed outfits 3 times. The star power and hitmaking of Babalwa M, Thatohatsi, Lamiez Holworthy and most of all Sjava was on full display as they showed us what crowd control looks like. The crowd sang along to hits like Bo Thata, Thandaza, Ikhandlela and more. Being part of such an enjoyable experience is a double edged sword, we had fun but the euphoria must come to an end.

We were honoured to be a part of this event. We believe that Ladies First On Stage is only going to get bigger and better and we assure you, EntertainmentSA will be there documenting an event that will build the culture for years to come.
