Thandeka Mhlanga, the estranged girlfriend of actor Sipho Ndlovu, has reportedly apologised to the actor, his family, and the brands he works with after a highly publicised dispute between the former couple that led to legal action. The matter gained public attention after Mhlanga opened a case against Ndlovu, accusing him of assault and sharing her side of the incident on social media. She alleged that she had driven to the actor’s home and that a confrontation took place when she tried to enter the property. According to claims she previously made, Ndlovu allegedly blocked her from entering, slapped her, and forced her down. The allegations sparked a public conversation around gender-based violence, with many people following the developments closely.

Ndlovu, however, denied the allegations, stating that he never assaulted Mhlanga and questioned the version of events she shared online. The actor said the images she posted did not support the claims she made and accused her of trying to damage his reputation with serious allegations. He maintained that the situation was linked to their relationship ending and described the accusations as coming from a place of hurt. Following the dispute, Ndlovu opened a case against Mhlanga, which resulted in her arrest on July 18. She was charged with common assault, crimen injuria and defamation of character. Mhlanga appeared at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court and was granted bail of R1,000, with strict conditions preventing her from contacting Ndlovu or going near his residence.

During subsequent court proceedings, the matter was postponed to allow both legal teams to review evidence. Mhlanga’s lawyer indicated that after the evidence was presented, there was a possibility that the charges could be withdrawn and that the two parties could consider mediation.

Mhlanga later expressed regret over the situation, admitting that she falsely accused him of domestic violence and further acknowledging that she should not have gone to Ndlovu’s residence after their relationship had ended. She extended an apology to Ndlovu, his family and the brands associated with him, recognising the impact the public dispute may have had on his personal life and career.

The legal matter has highlighted the challenges that can arise from relationship disputes becoming public, with both parties now seemingly moving towards resolving the matter away from the spotlight. The case is expected to return to court as discussions between both sides continue.
